Stanley Tan

Stanley is a proud and devoted father of two daughters, a businessman and a committed humanitarian. Since the age of 35, he has placed an equal emphasis on business and volunteering, and is a firm believer in building a strong civil society, promoting strategic philanthropy and supporting platforms of advocacy. Stanley currently serves a Principal of Rumah Group, Director of Rumah Foundation, CEO of Sedar Properties, Chairman of Asia Community Foundation, Chairman of South Central Community Family Service Centre, Chairman of =DREAMS Asia and =DREAMS Singapore, Vice-Chair of Project We Care, and a member of the Honorary Advisors of the Asia New Zealand Foundation.

With more than three decades of real estate investment experience in Singapore, New Zealand and Australia, his portfolio comprises townships, commercial, retail, industrial and residential developments. During this time, he also developed the Citylife Hotel chain, which includes hotels in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, as well as the Heritage Hotels, which has properties in Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown.

In the non-profit sector, Stanley co-founded and served as Chairman of the Asia Philanthropy Circle, founded The Hope Fund, co-founded and was the Vice-President of MILK (“Mainly I Love Kids”) Fund, and has held several key volunteer positions such as Vice-Chairman of the Singapore Red Cross Society, member of the Charity Council, Board Member of Babes, Board Member of the Alola Foundation (Timor Leste), Chairman of Opportunity International (Singapore), Chairman of Bukit Ho Swee Family Service Centre, Chairman of Beyond Social Services, as well as Chairman of quasi-governmental organisation, the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre where he was responsible for launching the Community Foundation of Singapore and the Centre for Non-Profit Leadership.

Stanley was conferred an Honorary Officer to the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2002 and received the Singapore National Day Award in 2011. He has also been commended by the Singapore Red Cross Society; the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports; the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth; and the National Council of Social Service for his efforts. In 2015, he was recognised by the New Zealand High Commission for his contribution to Singapore and New Zealand’s 50 year partnership, as well as New Zealand and ASEAN’s 40 year partnership.
